Korallit ympäri maailman menettävät väriään nopeammin kuin koskaan aikaisemmin. Suurin tekijä on aiheuttamamme ilmastonmuutos ja sen vaikutuksesta lämpenevät vedet. Korallien laaja haalistuminen huomattiin ensimmäisen kerran jo vuonna 1979. Ilmastonmuutoksen kiihtymisen myötä koralleille ei jää tarpeeksi aikaa palautua.
